TANZANIA FAMILY SAFARI

Tanzania is an ideal destination for families to experience nature's spectacular diversity and open spaces. Our Tanzania Family Safari explores Tanzania's great national parks and includes amazing wildlife viewing, opportunities for walking, swimming, wildlife tracking, and cultural interactions with Maasai, village school visits, and kid friendly meals!

DAY 1          ARUSHA
Welcome to Tanzania! You will be met by our representative and transferred to the lodge for a good night’s rest.

DAY 2          ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast depart for Arusha National Park, a small park but wonderfully diverse in habitat with forest, lakes, savannah, and several craters. We have a picnic lunch and an afternoon wildlife game drive before returning for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 3          TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Today we depart Arusha after breakfast, traveling southwest through the Maasai Steppe to Tarangire National Park with picnic lunch en-route. Tarangire is known for its large population of elephants, diverse scenery and the dramatic baobab trees. This afternoon we have a game drive before checking into the lodge.

Full day of exciting wildlife viewing in Tarangire National Park.

DAY 5          NGORONGORO CRATER
This morning we travel to the Ngorongoro Crater, the earth’s largest unbroken caldera. A veritable “Garden of Eden”, the Crater is reputed to contain the highest density of carnivores, which includes cheetah, leopard and lion. This is the only place in East Africa where one can easily observe black rhino.

DAY 6          NGORONGORO CRATER
Full day of wildlife viewing on the crater floor with a picnic lunch. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight

DAY 7          SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast we continue our journey to the Serengeti National Park en-route visiting Oldupai Gorge, a river canyon cutting 300 ft into the volcanic Serengeti plains, once home to our earliest ancestors. After our picnic lunch we visit a Maasai village and school. Our journey continues as we descend to the Serengeti Plains. Part of the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem, Serengeti National Park is home to the most famous wildlife spectacle on earth, the annual migration of a million wildebeest. We use the Seronera Plains for our camping in order to ensure year round access to some of the most spectacular wildlife viewing on earth. We may also enjoy the option of a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti Plains.

DAY 8          SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
We enjoy a full day wildlife viewing and exploring in the park with a picnic lunch. Accommodation is in a luxury tented camp set up under the magnificent African sky.

DAY 9          ARUSHA / DEPART
After breakfast we transfer to the airstrip for our scheduled flight back to Arusha where we will be met and transferred to the Arumeru River Lodge for dayrooms. After lunch there will be time for some last minute shopping or a swim in the pool. Early evening transfer to the airport for the onward flight home. (B,L)
